The Alpine winter brings Macugnaga and Monte Rosa a thick covering of snow from November to late spring, making the Anzasca valley a centre for Alpine skiing and other winter sports such as Nordic skiing, snowboarding, ice climbing and snowshoeing.
There are two main downhill skiing areas in the Macugnaga district, the Belvedere at the foot of Monte Rosa, and Monte Moro, at an altitude of 3,000 metres. A new Nordic ski trail winds for over 20 kilometres through the hamlets and woods around Macugnaga.
Enthusiasts of winter walking will find a variety of clearly marked itineraries for exploring ancient Walser settlements and the winter natural world in fairytale woods.
Children and beginners will enjoy practising on the easy slopes of the snow park in Pecetto, where the thrills and spills of sledging are also available.
With its central location, the Residence Hotel Cima Jazzi is only a short distance from the ski lifts and the numerous Nordic ski trails and hiking routes.
